Born in Pitt County, North Carolina, in 1870, William Colbert (Willie) Jackson graduated from the North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts in 1896 with a B.S. in General Farming, Dairying and Lumber Manufacturing. Jackson settled in the Wake Forest area after graduation. He established himself as a farmer and married Mary Smith of Winterville, North Carolina.
